The Arthur William (A.W.) Cunningham collection contains a brief typewritten history of pre-Civil War Kansas, as well as muster rolls for the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Regiments of the Kansas territorial militia in 1855-1856. The collection also mentions the Wakarusa War, a conflict between pro-slavery and Free State militias that occurred near Lawrence, Kansas between November 21 and December 8, 1855. A.W.
